Tree juice
Today I had a latte with Maple syrup as the sweetener base. It was yummy and warm, beyond the fact that I never drink lattes due to the milk products they contain. Earlier in the year I had a lemonade which used maple syrup as the sweet element, and it was delicious. I have read Press 195 had a maple syrup based Pesto that they use on their sandwhiches and make in shop.
I have always loved pure maple syrup for its wonderful flavor ( I also enjoy various honeys), but now I’m wondering where else this favored ingredient will turn up? What would Alton Brown have to say about it’s versatility?could he use it in a pesto? I’ll have to see if he’s done a show on the stuff. I want to see how explains the whole drained from trees thing.
Alton actually did one of my favorite episodes on the topic and visited a Vermont maple farm that I have been to. If you enjoy maple as a sweetener you would love Maple soft serve ice cream. To die for. Definitely check it out!
